Trigenics Therapy
COMBINING TREATMENT WITH EXERCISE TO “RETRAIN THE BRAIN”
TRIGENICS is a neuro-kinetic, sensorimotor assessment, treatment and training system which instantly relieves pain and increases strength and movement. It is currently practiced by over 2000 doctors, therapists and trainers in 20 countries worldwide. The complex procedures used in Trigenics retrain the way the brain communicates it’s movement and/or pain signals with the muscles of the body. The treatments are either manual or involve the use of instruments or exercise equipment. The beneficial effects are instantaneous and seen immediately. If Trigenics is what they need, patients having suffered with physical pain syndromes and/or movement dysfunctions always see strikingly measurable results on their first visit to a Trigenics practitioner. This will be the case; no matter how long they have had the condition and attended other therapies or how many doctors or therapists they have seen. Strength trainers using TrigenicsPower Augmentation training procedures on their clients see an unprecedented acceleration of muscle strength and size without drugs.
Historically Trigenics was first in the world to combine simultaneous muscle treatment with resisted exercise.
Trigenics is primarily used by specially trained manual medicine physicians such as osteopathic and chiropractic doctors as well as physiotherapists and elite licensed massage therapists. Personal fitness or athletic trainers as well as professional coaches also use specific variations of Trigenics for full-body comprehensive muscular activity assessments and/or correction of imbalanced pull patterns and biomechanics as well as neurokinetic retraining. Trigenics myoneural exercises are prescribed by Trigenicspractitioners and trainers in accordance with each client or patients individual specific requirements. Athletes receiving Trigenics immediately prior or during training or competition also experience instantaneous increases in strength and flexibility for immediate enhanced performance. Doctors, therapists and trainers often work together as a team on client or patient cases to provide full comprehensive treatment, training, rehabilitation and performance augmentation care.
Trigenics works by combining 3 treatment techniques which are applied at the same time for a therapeutic synergistic effect on the nervous system which is much greater than if you only applied one.
The 3 components are
- resistive exercise neurology
- muscle nerve-sensor stimulation
- bio-feedback breathing
During a Trigenics treatment, the doctor or therapist applies treatment to the muscle nerve-sensors while the patient performs specific resisted movement and breathing exercises.
Trigenics is a unique and dramatically effective treatment system which utilizes recent advances in applied functional neurology, developed by its founder, Dr. Allan Oolo Austin, with new manual medicine procedures. With Trigenics your nervous system is treated to essentially reset the way your brain communicates with your body.
Patients are inter-active participants in the treatment process rather than simple passive or active recipients. During the procedures, patients are required to move in specific directions and with specific amounts of force in order to generate neuromuscular monitoring reflexes which regulate movement. The Trigenics practitioner simultaneously amplifies these nerve-sensor reflex signals by introducing various degrees of resistance to the movements while the patient exercises. The movement monitoring nerve-sensors, which are embedded in the muscles, are then also physically manipulated and/or stimulated to further amplify the signals they are already reflexively sending up to the brain. In addition, the patient simultaneously performs concentrative therapeutic breathing exercises to even further stimulate the nervous system and enhance treatment outcome. So many signals being generated at the same time causes an amplification of the normal movement-sensation messages that the brain receives. As such, an unnatural and unusually large barrage of neurological signals are all sent up to converge in the lower brain at the same time. (In neurology this is referred to as “amplitude summation” and “convergence projection”) The brain then, in turn, “resets” its communication by beneficially changing it’s down-going “movement” and “feeling” signals to the body. It is thought that the brain responds by increasing or decreasing nerve signal output. This creates the effect of immediately improving joint and muscle function as well as instantly decreasing pain and increasing strength and movement. (This is analogous to how one “re-boots” their computer by sending a barrage of electrical signals to the CPU in order to restore function following an otherwise non-correctable malfunction when the screen or mouse freezes.)
Trigenics can be performed manually without medications or machines although many Trigenicspractitioners now use various static or vibratory treatment application devices and exercise equipment for the procedures. Doctors and therapists in the manual medicine fields, who use Trigenics, often refer to it as the missing element of care.
Trigenics myo-neural exercise methods and concepts can also be utilized directly by the public for state-of-the-art neuromuscular self treatment and training. Using Trigenics exercise methods enables one to increase length of tight muscles and strength of weak muscles instantaneously.
Because Trigenics combines a number of treatment techniques or modalities for a cumulative effect on the nervous system which amplifies the therapeutic effect and enhances treatment outcome, it is referred to as a “multi-modal” treatment system. Dr. Allan Oolo Austin, the founder of Trigenics, was the first in the world to introduce the concept of therapeutically combining soft tissue treatment with resisted exercises for a therapeutic neurological amplification effect. His work in developing the “resistance loading reflex” or “Austin response” is considered groundbreaking by many in the applied functional neurology and manual medicine fields.
