Applied kinesiology (AK) is one of many modalities used at Christensen Chiropractic to optimize patient care. It is a diagnostic technique that uses muscle testing to determine how a person’s body is functioning.
Muscle response to a physical, chemical or mental stimulus is correlated with the patient's history and a physical examination to determine the best form of therapy for the patient.
Applied kinesiology procedures are not used as a single method of diagnosis. But in combining elements of many other therapies, they offer a comprehensive and integrated approach to health care.
Therapies can include specific joint manipulation or mobilization, myofascial massage, cranial techniques, meridian therapy, clinical nutrition, dietary management and various reflex procedures.
In some cases, the examiner may also test for environmental or food sensitivities by using a previously strong muscle to find what weakens it.
